Hyperfast Internet is Coming: Central Telecoms Launching 2Gbps NBN Plans

Big news for homes and businesses across the Central Coast, Newcastle, Mid North Coast, and Orange. Central Telecoms is preparing to launch ultra-fast 2Gbps NBN plans! That’s right. We’re talking speeds that make buffering a thing of the past and support a whole office (or household) full of devices without breaking a sweat.

What is 2Gbps Internet?

It’s the fastest NBN plan ever made available and it’s coming soon. With download speeds of up to 2000Mbps, it’s designed for businesses with big data needs, smart homes packed with devices, and anyone who just wants the very best.

Think of it like upgrading from a ute to a high-performance sports car smooth, fast, and made for the road ahead.

What You Need to Know to Get Ready

For FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) Customers

If you’re already on FTTP, you’re in luck! You’ll be first in line for the 2Gbps upgrade. Most homes and businesses on this connection type will just need a compatible router and a quick plan change.

No messy install. No downtime. We’ll take care of it.

For HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) Customers

Many HFC customers will also be eligible, but availability will depend on your area and setup. Some may need new hardware or a technician visit.

Not sure what you’re on? Just give us a buzz and we’ll check for you.

For Everyone Else

If you’re on FTTN or FTTC, you may need to upgrade to FTTP to access 2Gbps speeds. The good news? Central Telecoms can help guide you through that process too we’re already helping local customers upgrade their fibre.

What You’ll Need for Top Performance

A Wi-Fi 7 Router (or at least Wi-Fi 6)

2Gbps is incredibly fast but your current modem or router may not be able to keep up. To get the full benefit, you’ll want hardware that supports Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 and ideally has 2.5Gb Ethernet ports.

Don’t worry, we can recommend or supply the right gear.

Device Considerations

Not all devices can hit 2Gbps speeds and that’s okay. The real advantage is how well the connection handles multiple users and tasks at once, like:

  • Ultra-HD streaming

  • Cloud backups

  • Video calls

  • Smart devices

  • Large file uploads

It’s all smoother, faster, and more reliable.

We’re Already Working on It

We’re testing hardware, checking eligibility, and building custom solutions so our customers are ready to go the moment 2Gbps becomes available.

Whether you’re a business needing more bandwidth or a household tired of slowdowns we’re ready when you are.
